چکیده

In this paper we present a numerical model for a problem of coupled flow and transport in porous media. We use a barycenter based finite volume method, which, in the case of convection dominated transport, is combined with suitable upwind methods, in order to avoid numerical instabilities. We present some relevant and new numerical results for the Elder problem, which offer a better understanding of mutually non-compatible results in other papers, by showing the dependence of the recirculating patterns on the level of grid refinement and on the numerical scheme, as well as on (numerical) perturbations.

Characterization of unsteady double-diffusive mixed convection flow with soret and dufour effects in a square enclosure with top moving lid

The present study considers the numerical examination of an unsteady thermo-solutal mixed convection when the extra mass and heat diffusions, called as Soret and Dufour effects, were not neglected. The numerical simulations were performed in a lid-driven cavity, where the horizontal walls were kept in constant temperatures and concentrations. The vertical walls were well insulated. A finite vol...

Numerical modelling of double-diffusive natural convection within an arc shaped enclosure filled with a porous medium

Numerical study of double-diffusive natural convective heat transfer in a curved cavity filledwith a porous medium has been carried out in the current study. Polar system has beenselected as coordinate system. As a result, all equations have been discredited in r and θdirections. Brinkmann extended Darcy model has been utilized to express fluid flow inporous matrix in the enclosure. Smaller and...

Using Lattice Boltzmann Method to Investigate the Effects of Porous Media on Heat Transfer from Solid Block inside a Channel

A numerical investigation of forced convection in a channel with hot solid block inside a square porous block mounted on a bottom wall was carried out. The lattice Boltzmann method was applied for numerical simulations. The fluid flow in the porous media was simulated by Brinkman-Forchheimer model. The effects of parameters such as porosity and thermal conductivity ratio over flow pattern and t...

Numerical Simulation of Density-Driven Flow and Heat Transport Processes in Porous Media Using the Network Method

Density-driven flow and heat transport processes in 2-D porous media scenarios are governed by coupled, non-linear, partial differential equations that normally have to be solved numerically. In the present work, a model based on the network method simulation is designed and applied to simulate these processes, providing steady state patterns that demonstrate its computational power and reliabi...

Investigation of Natural Convection in a Vertical Cavity Filled with a Anisotropic Porous Media

In present paper, a numerical analysis for a rectangular cavity filled with a anisotropic porous media has been studied. It is assumed that the horizontal walls are adiabatic and impermeable, while the side walls of the cavity are maintained at constant temperatures and concentrations. The buoyancy force that induced the fluid motion are assumed to be cooperative. In the two extreme cases o...
